Winter Food Watercolor Workshop with Molly Reeder

Sunday 03.09.25, 1PM - 3PM

Be Just Classroom, 2415 Ivy Road, Charlottesville VA

We’re thrilled to have you join us in the Classroom for our first workshop with the very talented illustrator, Molly Reeder. Molly will choose a selection of local, seasonal foods for the class to use in creating still life watercolor scenes. She’ll guide you in styling and thoughtfully composing each watercolor piece, sharing tips on approaching each illustration with mindfulness and care. Participants will learn both the basics and finer details of watercolor illustration and will get to take home their completed artwork from the class.

All necessary materials, with a focus on natural and ecological resources, will be provided.

About the instructor:

Molly Reeder is an artist focusing on botanical, plant, and food narratives. She creates large, intricate watercolor paintings of edible and plant-based subjects, capturing their unique beauty and natural healing properties. Her work is deeply inspired by the interconnected history of food and plants, as well as the wisdom nature provides. Through her art, Molly actively seeks collaborations that uplift community and human rights initiatives, particularly those related to environmental and climate activism.

After years of travel, living in diverse places like New Zealand, Bulgaria, and Hawaii, Molly has settled in Richmond, VA (Powhatan Land) with her husband and dog. She draws creative energy from the ancestral connections within food and plants and explores how they shape human narratives.

Her art has been showcased in publications such as Slow Drinks: A Field Guide to Foraging and Fermenting Seasonal Sodas, Botanical Cocktails, Homemade Wines, and More, Evergreen Kitchen: Weeknight Vegetarian Dinners for Everyone, Saveur Magazine, Taproot Magazine, Life and Thyme, PALM Hawaii, and Bake From Scratch.
