Join us at the Classroom in Belmont for a Sustainable Gift Wrap + Furoshiki Workshop, hosted by Shoko Yasuda Anderson of beloved, local sustainable brand Suzu Living. Shoko will offer insights into the history and practices of furoshiki, as well as hands-on techniques for wrapping gifts of different shapes and sizes using furoshiki and her "Wrap for Life" bags. Participants will leave with their own Wrap for Life bag, as well as the skills to wrap gifts effectively & sustainably “from the heart.” We also encourage participants to bring their own 27" x 27" textile or piece of cloth from home, though fabric will be provided for those who need.
About the instructor:
Shoko Yasuda Anderson was raised in Japan, where traditional furoshiki wrap is commonly used, which helped her to come up with the sustainable Wrap for Life bags. Learning more about zero-waste lifestyle inspired Shoko to create more reusable and long-lasting products along with the bags through her business, Suzu Living. Suzu Living's mission is to spread the idea of a less wasteful lifestyle by producing and introducing enjoyable & delightful items that are reusable and easy to care for. Shoko's goal is to bring joy to customers while reducing the effort needed to reduce waste.
