Pigment Making + Monoprint Workshop
Sunday 11.13.22, 1PM - 2:30PM
Be Just Classroom, Charlottesville VA
Join us for a Pigment Making + Monoprint Workshop with Michelle Gagliano. Michelle, globally recognized artist, will lead participants through the practice of creating their own oil, watercolor, and tempera pigments; harkening to the techniques of the Masters like DaVinci who came before. After a hands-on practice in creating pigments, participants will use their newly-crafted art medium to make their own unique monoprint to take home with them. This class is appropriate for all levels and all necessary materials will be provided.
About the Instructor:
Michelle Gagliano has permeated the American art scene with extensive solo exhibitions and curated group shows throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Gagliano’s accolades are extensive, including the coveted Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship and innovative, collaborative projects with symphonic musicians and published authors. Her works continue to be curated into major private and corporate collections, both within the United States and abroad. In the summer of 2018, Gagliano eliminated all toxic materials from her practice, introducing instead ground pigments, oils and solvents based in nuts and lavender, and handmade gessoes. It is not lost on her that this replicates what Leonardo DaVinci, Raphael, and other Masters used in their time.
