Join us at the Be Just Classroom in Belmont for a workshop on Eco-Printing with local textile artist Maeve Corcoran. Natural dyeing is a mindful and dynamic eco-conscious process to access shades of color that are otherwise unobtainable with synthetic dyes. Maeve will lead participants through the process of eco-printing using natural and industrial elements. The central process of bundling and dyeing with the provided materials will yield beautiful and unique patterns on a silk scarf that each participant will get to bring home at the end of this two-hour workshop. This workshop is great for all skill levels and all materials will be provided!
About the Instructor:
Maeve Corcoran is a fibers and textile artist local to Charlottesville. She received her BFA in Printmaking and Fiber Studies from VCU in 2020. She primarily works with found, recycled, and naturally available materials to explore needle work, weaving and natural dye processes. The warm tones of her dye pieces reflect those of the falling leaves and seed pods which she collects for pigment. Black walnuts, rusted metal and madder are of her most favorite materials to work with, for their rich red and brown hues.
