The ELEPHANT FEET earthenware is based on the work of the artist with whom we work. He has been working with celadone paints for over 20 years and researches their variations and reactions when modifying the composition of the minerals, the combustion temperatures and the air composition. In this way, beautiful soft-matte and delicate-shiny shades succeed in all variants from sky blue to broken steel blue to earthy green, which form the basis of his artistic work.
The groups of multi-colored small pots that he forms to test new glaze mixtures or variations and their interaction with the firing temperature and oxygen saturation form a poetic, blue-green composition in the workshop. The interaction between the artist and the expertise of our producers has allowed us to replicate the lively multi-color and depth of the glazes and make them available for serial production.
In addition to the color variants, the irregular shapes of ELEPHANT FEET reflect the workshop process when testing the glazes. In cooperation with the artist, we have further developed the shapes of the small, hand-made test molds and transferred them to a series of cups, plates and bowls. The targeted amorpho-organic randomness of this game of forms also contributes to the lively appearance of ELEPHANT FEET.
